It is often said that Offense sells tickets, but Defense Wins games, and I do not think that this could be more true for Dragon Fastpitch. We are selling tickets by scoring a total thus far of 109 runs, while holding our opponents to 69 runs over 9 games.
Week 2 brings us to Braham for a close game vs the Bombers, we kept the game close the entire game, but came up short in the 7th inning. The Bombers hit well, and the Dragons made too many errors to finish the game on top. A bright spot of the game however was Emily Koecher's Homerun into deep center field, SHE CRUSHED IT! Single's were also posted by Kylee Berube Shelbie Furber and Glicel Gollena, with luke warm bats the Dragons were not able to dig quite deep enough to beat the Bombers with a loss of 8-9.

Tuesday's Double Header against East Central faired much better for the Dragon Squad, posting wins 12-9 and 14-12. Two very close games, the Eagles put up a good fight earning 11 hits off of Furber. The Dragons, worked hard hitting before the game and were able to muster 12 singles and a double (Berube) of their own. Brooke Olson batting 3 singles, with Lexi Cummings, Serena Steele, Emily Koecher, and Taylor Dehkes boasting 2 a piece. The Dragons ended the first game up 12-9. The second game was close from start to finish, The Dragons mustered 11 more hits; two each from Cummings, Olson, and Koecher having wonderful day's at the plate. For the entire day, 74 plate appearences; the Dragon's only had 4 strike outs putting the ball in play 70 times in two games. The team looks to hit the ball hard, which makes them very easy to coach!
Thursday's Game vs Isle was close all the way down to the last play in the bottom of the 7th. Furber pitched well allowing only 7 hits with 3 strike outs, against a good hitting Isle team. The Dragons posted another 12 hits with 4 of them coming in bottom of the seventh inning, down by 1 with 2 outs. With a close battle brewing over 7 innings, it was the Dragon's turn to make one last stand in the bottom of the 7th inning. With 2 outs on the board, busting into the line-up was number 8 hitter Julia Christianson with a base hit to prolong the game. Glicel Gollena follows with another base hit giving the Dragon's some hope with 2 outs. The top of the line up steps up to the plate, confidently. Lexi Cummings hits a single with an RBI to tie; scoring Julia Christianson, leaving runners on 1st and second, again with 2 outs. Brooke Olson steps up and strokes a beautiful hit, with Glicel being the go-ahead run on the hit. Her speed came in handy as she walked across home plate ending the game with a Dragon Win 11-10.
